Over the last three months, you’ve likely noticed the Soundcloud bar underneath the title of each of our blogs. We encourage you to click the play button and listen to the Instabill podcasts.
Why have we chosen to podcast our blogs and news items? We have three reasons, but generally, it fits our beliefs about maximizing our content.
Our Blogs Are Worth the Read…and the Listen
When we are mapping out our content calendar and considering ideas, our very first criteria is this: Will our merchants, partners and readers benefit from this idea? Forgive us if we sound a bit pretentious, but we feel every one of our blogs and news items are damn good reads from which the reader can benefit.
People Don’t Like to Read
Indeed, you read that right (or heard it). Most readers scour the first few lines, lose interest and move on to another page. Bloggers have three seconds to reel a reader in, but most become unhooked. We get it.
Look at the layout of websites nowadays. You won’t find too much text on landing pages; only key words, actionable terms and phrases with related graphics. Websites have shed excess weight, so to speak.
We feel by offering readers the option to either read our blog or listen to the podcast – perhaps while they work – they will choose one or the other.
Podcasting is More Popular Than Ever
Everybody is doing it.
According to the digital strategy firm Forge & Smith, 2015 was the year of the podcast, and there are no signs of a slowdown. Said The Atlantic, more than 300,000 podcasts are in existence today. Folks nowadays download news and radio podcasts and listen while in transit – on the way to work, on a flight or simply at home.
Instabill, which provides merchant accounts for e-commerce businesses of all risk levels, is in a niche market. We’re not going to get the listenership of, for example, National Public Radio.
But through this wonderful social media tool, there is a place for us. And we want to grow our audience.
